High school students, associate degree/precision manufacturing students and mechanical engineering students who are considering careers in manufacturing are encouraged to apply! To date, the St. Louis Chapter has awarded students more than $150,000 in scholarship funds, helping more than 50 individuals complete their training and move into careers in manufacturing.
Scholarship recipients from previous years are encouraged to re-apply for this year’s scholarships if they will be enrolled next fall/spring (2024-25).
Missouri A+ students whose tuition is paid by the State of Missouri can apply for a “Toolship” thru this same application process. Several Missouri students have received $1500 in support (each) to help build their professional tool collections.
APPLICATION FORM may be submitted online or mailed.
- LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION (minimum of 2) preference of at least one letter being from an NTMA member company, an employer, or an associate member company. The second letter can come from an employer, a high school or post-secondary school or other various sources (non-manufacturing employers or volunteer/service organizations, scouts, etc.). You can include as many letters of recommendation as you wish. We prefer .pdf or .jpg of letters and the letter must be signed by recommender. Multiple letters are accepted and encouraged.
- OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT Applicant must submit an official transcript from his/her school. This can be sent directly from the school (prefer electronic or .pdf that shows certification from the school). You will need to contact the administrative or registrars office and request an official transcript. If you are currently in high school, a high school transcript would be appropriate, but if you have college credit courses, please provide both. Those enrolled in college should provide their college transcript. We need a transcript, not an online printout of grades. An unofficial printout of grades from the internet alone will not be accepted. Transcripts can be emailed/mailed by the school, or you can send them yourself. (address details below)
- CURRENT RESUME Can include employment, internships, co-op participation, as well as volunteer/service/leadership experience.
- MINIMUM OF SIX (6) CREDIT HOURS commitment in an academic year in manufacturing, industrial technology or engineering program.
- MINIMUM GRADE POINT AVERAGE OF 2.5 on a 4.0 scale or its equivalent.
- RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT – Applicants must be from the St. Louis Chapter membership geographical range (southwestern, west-central or central Illinois or the western half of Missouri) or be attending a school within this area.
- AGE REQUIREMENT – Applicant must be 18 years of age at the start of class and be eligible to work in the United States of America.
- PAST SCHOLARSHIP APPLICANTS and/or recipients may submit an application for a grant in succeeding years.
All supporting documents can be submitted online within the scholarship form. However, you can choose to email scans of supporting documents instead or mail them to the chapter office. Submit emails to [email protected] before the deadline of March 31, 2024 at midnight. If you choose to mail must be postmarked no later than March 31, 2024 to St. Louis Chapter NTMA, 101 W. Argonne, #137, St. Louis, MO 63122 (if you deliver this in person, this address is a UPS Store in downtown Kirkwood).

Additional Scholarships:
National Tooling & Machining Foundation (NTMF) awards scholarships up to $2500 to graduating high school seniors, undergraduates and graduate students pursing two-year, four-year or advanced degrees in manufacturing who work for an NTMA member company.
Applicants for a St. Louis Chapter scholarship are welcome/encouraged to apply for both scholarships.
